Collection consists of original documents (in part, generated by Rodney Adams, Director of Finance 1976-85), copies of documents (in part, from Stanford University Archives collections), and Augsburger's notes and completed research, including spreadsheets on endowment figures for 1903-2002. Other topics of note within the collection include the Uniform Management of Institutional Funds Act and the financial role of real estate (the Stanford Shopping Center and the research park).

Robert Augsburger was Stanford's vice president for business and finance from 1971 to 1977 and a lecturer in management at the Graduate School of Business from 1971 until he retired in 1995. Prior to coming to Stanford, he was a Wall Street executive; he received a B.S. degree from Northwestern and a J. D. degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.
